I'm not lost revenue to the system because I've already refused to be somebody's "conversion." If a person has already resolved to avoid the siren song of paid propaganda and the completely irrational action chain of view->click->buy, then why should they waste precious time and bandwidth listening to irritating and dishonest content try and cajole them into a modified course of behavior, all the while they lose their privacy to a literally innumerable number of beacons, pings, and callbacks? Here's a thought: many of the people on this forum believe in ad blocking because they believe all advertising to be unwanted propaganda manifesting as noise. It was really good and I highly recommend it! They were proud of the good adveritising they had done, and extremely disappointed with the bad. ![]() How advertising companies treat viewers as dumb idiots who just need to be told what to buy. We are individuals, with minds, and the ability to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We are not stupid wallet's that you can drain. The internet is doing us all a great thing! It's enabled people all over the world to connect, and stand up against these monopolizing corporate entites that think they can own us, and do with us what they please. I can't believe just a few months ago I was paying $80/month for DirecTV, only to have DirecTV and every channel on it making BILLIONS $$$ of dollars off showing me non-stop ads, even ON TOP of the crazy $80/month they were charging me for basic television. But they have become so extremely bad, that users are pulling the plug on their cable & satellite and switching to services like Hulu. The same once applied to Cable and satellite TV. And I still feel the service Hulu provides is great! However, because of the constantly increasing length and frequency of ads, AND the content of those ads (as a previous user stated, sometimes depressing and anoying), I no longer feel obligated to defend them. Hulu could reduce their commercials to prevent this, but they probably wont-so more power to those who are developing work-arounds!Įven though a very short time ago, I would have completely disagreed with anyone wanting to block ads on Hulu, that time has came and went.Īt one time, I felt that the service Hulu was providing was well worth the few short ads. People are finding ways to block ads now because it has become too much. Hulu tried to bait and switch its users-going from commercial free to some commercials to near constant commercial breaks. But now they actually interfere with the broadcast, and some are extremely annoying or depressing and so people care enough to find ways to block it. Nobody cared to block them when they were rare. ![]() Why? Because they know their prices will not push as many people into pirating the game. Companies claim that piracy raises prices, but in mediums where piracy is not nearly as serious a problem (such as x box games) the games are even more expensive. Prirats and ad blocks work as a market force that keeps companies in check when they go to far. On the other hand, if there is no duty to watch the commercials, then there is nothing wrong with blocking them either. If you are serious about saying you have an obligation to watch it then you would have to find ignoring it or leaving during it morally objectionable as well. If it is morally wrong to block and advertisement, then it would stand to reason that it is morally wrong to ignore the advertisement or leave the room during it as well. It's another to do everything you can to not be subjected to the advertisements that fund whatever site you enjoy using. It's one thing to block annoying pop-ups and pop-unders and noisy/obstructive flash ads. If everyone blocked those ads, they wouldn't get paid and you wouldn't get your free videos. They give you free stuff by inserting minimal advertisements. ![]() ![]() ![]() Just like in Payday there are hurdles to jump through, but I thought these hurdles were cooler to unlock. Scavenging is a big deal in this game, so I spent a lot time combing over the level looking for stuff. Still, I thought the levels in this game were really cool. It’s trying to get from point a to point b with some hurdles in the way, but those hurdles are a bit randomized for more replayability. If you have every played Payday 2 before, then you have a general sense of the level design. I like the difficulty on enemies, I just wish they were smarter. I try to stealth these guys every time, but they could always see me from a mile away and I found it surprisingly difficult to get one hit headshots with them. After each encounter with humans, I usually end with the meter being filled and zombies swarming the area. Like I said earlier, these guys are bozos and shoot like they have unlimited ammo with no silencer. But just like the zombies, I had issues with them as well. It wasn’t like Payday where you can just shrug it off. Plus, in this game getting shot really felt like something. I wouldn’t say they are the most advanced AI, but they did move around a lot and I found myself constantly flanked. human, I found them to be pretty difficult too. I think if the meter was on a cooldown, then it would be much better. On top of that, there were moments when I was in the area where I could see humans near a giant zombie cage, and while I would love to unleash those zombies on the humans,I couldn’t because they would just create a lot of noise. It baffles me that they do this because they are smart enough to survive for this long, but they are dumb enough to just spray and let the zombies swarm. Whenever I fought humans, they would just shoot like it’s Call of Duty, which frustrated me because they would fill that meter up super fast. While I thought it was cool at first, I soon found the meter to be frustrating. Also, the game has a meter where noises like gunshots or traps would fill the meter, and when that meter filled a horde of zombies constantly spawned to your location. I hope this is better balanced because I often felt that was a cheap move for us to lose health. The zombie grabbing you alone could take a whole chunk of health, and if you shove the zombie it could take another chunk. The issue I had with this was that the zombie grabs were way too powerful. This will give you two options: shove him and lose a lot of health or stab him and have the chance to be tackled and put into a down state. But while I did enjoy zombie combat, I did have some issues with it. This does lead to moments where you can spend a good amount of time just poking at the zombies, but I still enjoyed those moments just the same. I even remember moments where our whole team got backed up against a wall poking at the zombies, and those moments felt like movie moments. ![]() There were a lot of tense moments throughout my time with zombies, and I liked that a lot. There are a lot of zombies that spawn in an area, and you have to spend your time with each one. With other zombie games, I usually hit a point where I’m just mowing them down without breaking a sweat, but I never hit that point with my time in this game. The biggest thing that both shocked me and made me fall in love with this game is how difficult killing zombies can be. And how is the gameplay? Actually, it was quite a lot of fun. While I did enjoy the fact that they are trying to tell a story, it really played second fiddle to the gameplay. ![]() ![]() ![]() Although it’s an industry leader in many ways, its high-res tier has long been under development but isn’t yet available. Many of the music services offer some content at 24-bit/192 kHz, which requires approximately 9216 kbps (9.216 megabits per second, or Mpbs for short) to stream in what we perceive as “real” time. Lossless codecs like FLAC (short for Free Lossless Audio Codec) ren’t able to cut the file size as much but still can shrink down a WAV file by 50 to 70 percent. An MP3 can often shrink a WAV file by 90 percent. Though they provide lesser sound quality, lossy codecs are better at decreasing file size. Lossy codecs discard some audio information in order to accomplish that goal, while lossless codecs reduce file size without removing any data. Completely uncompressed audio at CD quality (16-bit/44.1 kHz) and better (24-bit/48 kHz up to 352.8 kHz) results in audio files that are too large to stream easily.Ī codec (short for code/decode) algorithm is used to shrink digital audio files. The tricky part of streaming high-res files is that the better the quality (that is the higher the bit resolution and sampling rate), the bigger the file size and the faster the internet download speed required. Here’s a guide to the lossless options available out there. Some charge more for the privilege, while others make it available in all their paid plans. ![]() ![]() These days, most streaming music services offer lossless options. For those with keen enough ears to notice the reduction of quality inherent in music that utilizes a “lossy” codec like MP3 or AAC, this was a significant breakthrough. Please note I have not listened to Qobuz for over 30 minutes so I cannot comment on audible difference between the streaming services yet - but I do feel more at ease knowing the windows drivers are being bypassed on Qobuz.Almost ten years ago, TIDAL became the first streaming music service to offer music encoded with lossless compression.
